Learn More About Entertaiment
The word entertainment carries with it the idea of amusement, and much of what we think of as entertainment aims to entertain, although many may have a serious intention. Some have a social function such as ceremonies, celebrations or religious festivals; others might be thought of as satire or even propaganda. The concept of entertainment is also flexible enough to allow for a wide range of formats ranging from an individual selecting a private entertainment from an ever-growing array of pre-recorded options, to a banquet adapted for two or more; or performances intended for thousands or more. Entertain, penetrate, pierce and probe all mean to make entry into something, and often carry the implication of some force or impelling power that achieves this.
